Approval of May email minutes: Motion by Jerry Second by Ken
Superintendent Jerry Case boated down the canyon today to attend our meeting. This was his first trip by water end to end needless to say he was thrilled at what he saw! Jerry informed us of BICA’s intention to install invasive species boat wash stations at Horseshoe Bend and OK-A-BEH for next year. They will also be involved in an intensive boater/fisherman education program. They intend to begin a “Leave No Trace” Program at BICA (visitors will be expected to remove all trash while on the lake and take it to fixed on land trash containers). The evening ranger fireside talks have started at Horseshoe Bend Camp ground for the summer. FOBHL has emailed the June schedule to its members. He reported the new dock at Horseshoe Bend was being installed today. Several questions about PWC use were ask. Jerry has first hand info on this issue since he was in the NPS-DC office then and wrote the BICA regulations. Many improvements at the visitor center in Lovell are forth coming. Presently 3 VIP folks from FOBHL are serving at the visitor center greeting guests.
Ric King the new Wyoming Game and Fish Warden for our area was also in attendance. After introductions we visited about up coming activities he needed to be aware of, the first being the catfish tournament on June 20 at Kane Ramp. Ric transferred from the Mountain View area and now lives in the warden house east of Lovell. His phone number is 548-7310. Ric will visit with Joe for more details on the cat fish tournament.
Bighorn LakeCelebration plans
Each director reported on their assignments with only a few last minute items needing attention next week. We have 18 boats lined up to give the free boat rides plus a lot of helpers to assist as needed. Teams for the catfish tournament continue to register.
Directors were reminded to encourage FOBHL members to renew their memberships and invite others to join. We will have an information booth at the June 20th activity.
