Board Meeting Minutes

June 12, 2007

BHCNRA Meeting Room at 7pm

 

Call to order and Welcome – Bob C

 

Excused: Jim Liner and Bob Nemitz

Chair ask that the May email minutes be approved. Margaret Yarbrough presented the motion and Keith Grant seconded it. The vote was unanimous  to accept the minutes.

 

Welcomed James Seckman – Chairperson over the boat rides for June 23. James presented the tentative plan and schedule for the boat rides. There were several suggestions made and options suggested. James will discuss these with Jim Liner then issue a email with updates.

                       

Darrell Cook – BHCNRA  Darrell reported that all projects and 2007 budget were still ongoing as given at the last meeting. He has given the USBR the data on HSBend’s new launch level of 3617’ plus the kane  and south causeway river ramps information for the USBR boat ramp website.

 

Directors items

Report on recent meetings:   The USBR Group meeting in Lovell on June 8 was attended by Ken Grant, Keith Grant and Bob Croft. They each gave a short report on the outcome. All agreed the most gets done during the breaks with the one on one conversation.

May 12 - Powell Home and Garden Show (16 new member families joined)

 

Liability insurance for June 23 – This insurance will cost about $773 for the day. HD and Margaret will ck into the details of the proposed policy and make recommendations. If they find it to be proper we voted to purchase the policy this week.

 

DVD filming on Memorial Day Wk end and on June 2nd went well. We had a beautiful day on June 2 plus a lot of activity at HSBend.

 

Kane parking lot, cement ditch and debris project is done. NPS has since sprayed the area to prevent additional plant growth in the future.

 

Hwy 37 and railroad crossing concerns at Am Colloid plant were discussed by HD. He is doing more work to improve this problem.

 

NPS has ask us to provide boat operators for the Sedimentation Resurvey in mid July. Rick Lasko will oversee this VIP project. There are about 60 sites to resurvey with a full lake. The details will be forth coming from Rick.

 

We will return the large poster photos used at the various promotion shows to the folks in the photos.

Should we need others next year we now have plenty of lake photos to use.

 

June 23 Celebration :    Details of events by respective FOBHL board members was given. James Seckman covered Jim Liners items and Bob Croft reviewed notes from Bob Nemitz. There were some modifications and suggestions provided from the group. Overall the event is shaping up very well

 

We feel there will be over 1500 for the lunch at noon so we have a backup plan if needed. Pepsi/Fremont Beverages and Red Apple Super Market are providing the drinks and food for this large crowd.

 

Law enforcement, parking and visitor safety are being handled by NPS and area law enforcement agencies. BHCounty Search and Rescue, will be on hand too.

 

Darrell approved the placing of 3 mooring buoys near the log boom for the event. These will be removed soon after Saturday. There will also be more trash cans needed plus a key for the concession building. Mike D will take care of these for us.

 

We decided to print name tag for all helpers. Office shop in Cowley has agreed to donate these plus print the info packets for the event.

 

The maps being printed by Northwest College will not be ready until early July due to a busy print shop schedule. We will distribute these maps at a later date.

 

KPOW and Bighorn Radio Netwk will invite us to their respective Talk Shows the week of the event.

 

The main street banner in Powell will go up on Monday June 19. With the 22,000 color flyers in the Buyer’s Guide being mailed on June 14. A lot of other advertising is going on in many places near and far. Overall everyone has really pitched in to promote the event at a reduced cost to FOBHL.

 

FOBHL funds will be low after the June 23rd event. There are still some who need to pay 2007 dues.
